I'm not sure that he dresses up to be thought weird, so I doubt that he would be disppointed. I also think that it is part of his art, rather than overshadowing it (a bit more complicated than that - I think that dressing up as Claire as a girl is psychological, whereas dressing up in an outfit that includes a dress decorated with images of machine guns is part of his art).

True. But your own seizing upon the 'unusual encounter' as an excuse to add an example of your own, of something of a quite different sort, seems like nothing so much as an airing of obsessions.

Maybe my airing of 'obsessions' is more than adequately matched by your own. Shall I, therefore, in a spirit of extreme generosity, call it a 0-0 draw?

Apologies to the OP if I got his/her gender wrong. Unlike others here I'm not particularly 'obsessed' with the gender of members.

It just didn't seem that important in the great scheme of things in typing 'his' instead of 'her' but maybe I'm just gender-indifferent. And, hey, maybe that means I'm actually 'weirder' than jean and flossie?

It seems to me to be a perfectly normal progression in a conversation to move from a specific example what one person found weird to a general discussion of what might be considered weird. If we stuck to a discussion of the specific example it would probably be a rather short conversation.
