I am very much in favour of occasional "Total Immersion" programming on R3, and in general (depending on the composer) I find these educational, enjoyable, and encourage me to listen more than usual. They are like a sort of festival. I have not been able to listen to any of the Shakespeare programming and so cannot comment on that.
Radio 3 does it again (tediously)

Everything depends on who has a sense of humour. I was sure that RW absolutly hated the Dead Ringers Radio 3 sketch - even though it was about 50 years out of date - and he didn't want the station to be the butt of that kind of joke. Which is why we ended up with the Ed Reardon style insteadIt isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

than you could shake a Tourte at
A friend rang a venue recently to enquire about an item of lost property and initially met a block with - 'we don't have a room of that name' - which was overcome when the member of staff in a fit of inspiration said 'oh you mean the Hayden room'...
