    Victoria Wood RIP

Comedian Victoria Wood has died after a "short but brave" battle with cancer, her publicist says.

Wood, who shot to fame in the 1980s as one of Britain’s most popular standup comics, dies from cancer

Just this instant seen it. What an irony - such terribly sad news about someone who was creating so much laughter
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Horrifically shocking news - desperately sad. I shall so miss her wonderfully rude, insightful and hilarious comedy.

      RIP and thanks

I can only echo fhg's response; a great talent and one of so many taken from us by that wretched disease.

        RIP

Absolutely terrible news - the very funniest person I have ever seen on TV and live - from Acorn Antiques , Pat and Margaret ( Not on the eiderdown) , As seen on TV, Dinnerladies to very touching and superb acting in Housewife 49 and Eric and Ernie .

Such sad news. Another taken from us by this black-hearted disease. RIP Victoria and thanks for sooo many laughs!

With the superfluity of mediocre comedians around these days it is so sad to lose someone so good. RIP Victoria.

She made me laugh like very few others could, or can.

                      RIP

And one must remember her too as writer and performer of her own songs. It goes without saying, she was an original! RIP Victoria.

                            How could you forget this?

                              - the excerpts of her work at the end of PM today had me simultaneously laughing out loud and weeping. Has Woman's Weekly been the same since?
