My feeling is that the Palace considers the celebration of the sovereign's 90th birthday as something for the entire country, of the people populist and for the people populist. It isn't considered to be a CultureFest. And isn't. In the least. Most entertainment isn't these days, so nothing new there.

I think that's a good call, but I think it's also fairly well known that Her Maj's natural musical inclinations are... well... um... not very high-brow.
