    Feck!

One of the great TV comedy creations by Frank Kelly.

RIP indeed. One of the best comedy programmes from the 1990s and few have been made since to touch it.

So many marvellous moments - a personal favourite is Father Jack being coached to add 'That would be an ecumenical matter' to his otherwise rather limited vocabulary...

I was watching the one last night where he steals both the remaining parachutes, one for him, one for the drink trolley.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                  Yes - sad news.

                  My favourite 1990s sitcom.

This, weirdly, is just how I remember fetes and air shows in the 1960s.

                  Strange times!

Burntisland Fair 2012 or Father Ted's Funland....

Very sad news - Feck indeed . A strange coincidence that he died on the very same day of the year as the late Dermot Morgan .

I often lament how when an actor who has enjoyed a career of such variety and distinction gets eulogised on the basis of one part alone. However, in the case of Frank Kelly 'Father Jack Hackett' was an outstanding creation. Yes, created by messrs Matthews & Linehan but given flesh, bone and 3D XXX verbosity by Frank Kelly.

No ecumenical doubt about that at all, at all.

They've already set off for Father Jack's wake:
