"Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)" might have a further word in brackets - ("Berceuse")?

I think the answer is probably "York". York Bowen composed a "Berceuse" and Joel "New York State of Mind".
Sounds like good work to me Lat ........

Think Mallard and Flying Scotsman, linked to a non musical Nigel and a musical Arthur

                Sir Nigel Gresley designed both.

I have hovered over Gerry Mulligan but am wondering whether the Arthur is Honegger as in Pacific 231.

                York Railway Museum?

                    Wow.

One of my very favourite music websites tells me "In 1988, Gerry Mulligan composed a piece for the Glasgow Festival called "Flying Scotsman" : not a unique musical title, as we shall see"..........."The first railway film with its own soundtrack was the British one "The Flying Scotsman" (1929) its music being credited to Idris Lewis and John Reynders, two obscure musical figures if there were any"............"Sidney Torch (composer of the "London Transport Suite"), was reckoned a very fine theatre organist and some time ago I heard a record of him playing on the organ a cheerful number entitled "Flying Scotsman", complete with atmospheric engine sounds supplied by the organ. This was not, as I at first thought, one of Torch's own compositions but was an arrangement of a piece by the Scots born accordionist and light music composer of the period 1930-1960, George Scott-Wood".

Not a lot of people know that.

What Z links a question Collins had about a murder, a character who encouraged people to leave the room before Legrand and a newsreader who played God in a one-act opera?

I remember being very disappointed by the newsreader's contribution, Lats.
Maybe I was just too used to the recording I have.

Probably too busy (appropriately perhaps getting ready for my move to York) to solve the other two clues, but I hope to monitor activity from the sidelines in my coffee breaks!

Ah, so it isn't obscure then.

                          Good luck with the move.

                            Thanks.
The number of friends who have promised to come and visit as they really want to have an excuse to go to the railway museum is encouraging and alarming in equal measure!

Doesn't anyone want to go the the Early Music Festival?

I think I knew about friends with those interests, jean; it's the ones with the secret railway yearning that have been the surprise!
