I think it is Vienna but am mystified why you haven't included in the clues any reference to Rigsby's cat (Rising Damp).

Implausibly George Foreman produced a record with the Vienna Boys Choir.

Bernstein had close links with the Vienna Philharmonic and State Opera. Michael Haydn was in the boys' choir in Vienna.

It could be the Vienna Boys Choir. That would explain the absence of a plug for Vienna the cat.

I know "ferney" is pronounced "verney" when speaking Welsh - but I'm deffinitely a fferney hereabouts, Lats!

Chopin, Bernstein, Michael Haydn, Zaire ...

Michael Haydn wrote incidental Music for a theatre piece called Zaire.

          AAAAAHHHHH!!! GOTCHA!!!

Said "theatre piece" originated in a play by Voltaire!
          As did Bernstein's Candide.

Chopin and George Foreman acted together in L'Orphaine de la Chine in an amateur production staged in the Tardis when the Doctor was in one of his whimsical moods.

Or, if you want to go for something more obvious, there's the Hotel Lambert, built in the 17th Century, in which both Ms Arouet and Chopin lived for a substantial period.

But I still think it's the Tardis connection - why else bring in "Foreman", hmmm?

Sadly the Chopin link is a rather massive CU ... in a hurry for a third link I typed Chopin Voltaire into yer engine and was rewarded with Op 53 played by Voltaire Verzosa !!!!!!!

The W prize goes, I think, to ferney as Lat is making a beeline to the B .....

              Apologies .......

Is anyone going to explain what's going on here?
Not only did U confound me, but the V has compounded my confusion.
Glad I'm just observing from the sidelines for the present.

Sorry you don't need any more stress on the move .....

                  The V was Voltaire

Michael Haydn's Incidental Music to Zaire with George Foreman rumbling in the jungle as an added pointer ....
Lennie Bernstein's Candide based on the novella of the same name .....

and the catastrophic Fred Chopin Voltaire Verzosa non-link .....

I will apologise as many times as deemed necessary .....

Fully agree that W should go to llanferney.

Like Pulcinella, I was mainly perplexed rather than being able to locate 90% of it.

As for Voltaire Verzosa, I hadn't even thought of him since his memorable performance at the International Bamboo Organ Festival.

                    Vincit qui Patitur.

As the "Situations Vacant" notice outside the convent said; Nun Needed:

No problem, as no stress yet.

I know that I announced my temporary withdrawal from playing, given the great move north, but it seems that no-one else is playing either.
Has ferney perhaps forgotten that the world is watching and waiting for his W?

Sort-of: I remembered that it was my turn and had researched a W, but by the timne I'd sorted something out, other things turned up to get in the way (including a day out in Blackpool which was one of the most disspiriting days of my life).

Be that as it may -

Daedalus (One Night), Falling from space, this Olympian composer achieved Gold at the weekend - well, brass, actually. To Whom do I wefer?
