Nothing to do with Yorkshire, but the name of the young German anti-Nazi group, members of which were "executed" for treason towards the end of the Second World War.

"(Die) Weisse Rose" (original, with definite article) 1967, revised (without) 1986, and "Der Schuhu und die fliegende Prinzessin" (the Owl-man and the Flying Princess) of 1976 are both operas by Udo Zimmermann (b 1943).

The entire Weisse Rose is available on youtube:

Indeed - I'd forgotten to mention having written two elements for the second clue!

              Alexander Scriabin presumably too obvious...?

I didn't know of this before now:

                (there's a clip on youTube where it's sung ... AT A WEDDING!!!)

No. Nor Purcell, either, if I may be so Bold.

It may be obvious, but it's correct - you've got the first element. (The second's as straightforward, too. Then it might get tricky.)

                    Ah ha!

So the second would be The Little Mermaid (Die Seejungfrau) by Alexander von Zemlinsky

Bracing myself for the third part...

You mean I need to change into someone who knows something about bloody ballet?

I thought we might be back chez Doris with Raymonda and Alexander Glazunov...

... but is it (taking scb's cue) something to do with Kafka?

Oh hang on... there's Ovid too... Goehr... didn't old Sandy do something about that?

Don't go away.... Talk amongst yourselves for a bit.

                                - Scriabin: Vers la flamme

                                - Zemlinsky: The little mermaid

                                - Goehr: Metamorphosis/Dance Op. 36
