Exactly! Though the spelling was a bit wobbly, as WOL would say!

      The answer is Hovhaness.
      The pieces are all symphonies.
Symphony 2, Mysterious Mountain (Op 132)
Symphony 22, City of Light (Op 236)
Symphony 50, Mount St. Helens (Op 360)

The 'almost halfway between' works with both symphony number and opus number.

I will be watching the next one from the sidelines.

It'll be IRCAM - I could do with a rest until Advent!

(No, it won't - but it won't be tonight.)

This one's a bit iffy at times; not sure at all, but here it goes:

Gluck, Gluck, Theodorakis and a chic addition to the Bachs. What am I on about?

Succinct and correct in all particulars, cloughie. J/K/L of your choice, in your own good time.

A J which links Gold, an attachment to the second stage of Mann and Gold again.

                      Is it J for Joseph?

I recall there is a Gold archangel in Richard Strauss's 'Josephs Legend' ballet; Thomas Mann wrote 'Joseph and his Brothers'; there's a violinist, pupil of Heifetz, called Joseph Gold...

Not Joseph and I think Flay has got his Mann.
