So the combined ages leads me to Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison to be alongside Chopin.

Or at least lying fairly close, I imagine.

I wondered about Paris a while back - ah well!

Delius and Basie didn’t fit the age frame!

I hadn't even got the P for Paris, but from sub's solution had thought it was P for Père (Lachaise)!

I hadn't even got the P for Paris, but:

Paris is an acceptable solution, but:
Jim Morrison (died age 27), Frederic Chopin (39) and Edith Piaf (47) are all buried in Pere Lachaise Cemetery (together with Oscar Wilde).
I think subcontrabass should be invited to 'form a Q' (or set an 'R'), don't you?

Oh yes: I wasn't trying to claim any victory.
Indeed, I'm not playing, but I am taking pleasure from being on the sidelines, dipping in every so often, and being amazed at the ingenuity, both of the questions and of many of the suggested solutions!

                              Indeed not!
I've had to edit the text in the 'quote' as posts quoting others seem to have gone awry!
