Ray Davies wrote a song called Victoria for the Kinks... and there are conductors sharing the first name Victoria called Bond, Ely, Sanchez, Gau and Pilley

      Any good to you, Cloughie?
Sanchez and Ray correct but the other conductor is a connection with an orchestra.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Not sure what to do here, as I can't make any further headway, cloughie is absent and others don't seem any further forward than me.

So all we have is a partial plate of coleslaw, in that V is Victoria and 2/3 elements were Ray Davies's Victoria, and Victoria Sanchez the conductor...

Edit: ah yes! Yannick N-Z is element 3 then with the Victoria Symphony.

Let us press on with the W...

...the W which unites ten of the same (including a Romanesque and a Gothic), a Carnaval and a Scottish Suite.

I think that we thought that you had cracked it, and we were just waiting for the full solution to be revealed.

Clue: the original title of the last-referenced piece is Suite Écossaise...

Are the ten a collection of buildings (cathedrals, say) or novels (sadly, Walter Scott's Waverley novels do not seem to fit the bill, even if I could find other associations!)?
