One of those puzzles that seem astonishingly easy - as soon as you know the answer!

        Oh, well:

Steps after the Trumpets, but before Autumnal sounds; a solitary Poppy twice; a sad thing from Hector. 'O am I on about?

It is!!! I'm so sorry, cloughie - but because you put the answer in an edit to your last post, it didn't register on my "Not Read" list, so I didn't see it.

Knussen's Ophelia Dances is (are?) his Op 13, Op 12 being Trumpets and Op 14 being Autumnal.

Haven't got the Poppy part yet.

PS: Changed 'third' to 'Poppy' to avoid confusion! Wondered why it took forever to save: ferney was quoting the original!
PPS: Also deleted big grin, as was not trying to appear smug! But ferney had picked that up too!

Well, so far - the Mort d'Ophelia in Berlioz' Tristia (="sad things").

The Poppy should now be straightforward - and then trip a few measures for the remaining piece & composer.

                      - I got plenty of Knussen.

Haven't got the third part yet.
Just checked - it's very straightforward googling

Well done, Googler major - I wondered who would be the first to spot that one.

Yes - an Opera for solo voice and electronics, the texts taken from Hamlet.

                          So

La Mort d'Ophelia, by Berlioz (from his Tristia)
Ophelia Dances, Op 13 (after Op12 work Trumpets and before his Op14, Autumnal)
                          Ophelia/Ophelia by Andrew Poppy.

cloughie got to the word - almost immediately ; would he like to give the P?

I defer to ag, who completed the puzzle for us.
I googled but did not find what he did!

Hope his poser won't give us the pip, though.
