I almost got to Chabrier whilst compiling a mental list whilst out this afternoon but Flay you led me off the French track by being so insistent on Carnival rather than Carnaval. Meant that Romain was off my list. I'll find a Desperate D, Dreckly.
It's been a busy day - but I think one of us is on the wrong Thread, Bbm!
Bbm - I think it's my fault for chuntering off down the Symphonie-Fantastique-with-cornet garden path
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
I suppose Dan would be too obvious so I settle for a D to link Ralph, Aaron and Rick (twice).
Brain not yet fully engaged, but wondering if Dan has morphed into Don, with Rick being Strauss' Don Juan and Don Quixote?
Can't think of any Don connections for RVW or Copland yet, though....
Perhaps inspiration will strike after/during my shave and shower.

Not Don - Had it been so I might have used my Trump card - or Sir Donny as some call him in Camelot.
Would you care to Dance, cloughie? Not quite "Dan" and:
RVW: Job - A Masque for Dancing
Copland: Dance Panels
Rick 1: Dance of the Apprentices (from Wagner's Meistersinger
Rick 2: Dance of the Seven Veils (from Strauss' Salami)
(the flaw in the RVW struck me as I typed it! - although there are several movements in it called "Dance". I'll plump for Dance of Plague, Pestilence, Famine and Battle.)

Hmm - this is tricky. At first I thought of "Down" (and even prepared a pun about the Status Quo) - and it all looked promising with Aaron's Hoe and Ralph's Ampney ...
... but no luck with either of the obvious Ricks (and, whilst Addinsell's "Warsaw" Concerto gets me down, I didn't think that was much help).
So then I did a vowel movement and "Dawn" seemed a possibility.
Rick 1's Dawn "Intermezzo" in the Prologue to Gotterdammerung
Rick 2's Dawn from Also Sprach Zarathustra
Ralph's Dawn from his film score for Coastal Command
... and ... err ... Dawn Upshaw has recorded many of Aaron's songs
I don't think I've seen the light yet.
