Beethoven wrote a cantata on the death of Emperor Joseph. If we can call him Ludvig, I suspect we are meant to link that with a Handel oratorio and the suggested colourful piece.

George Frideric Handel: Joseph and his brethren

Andrew LLoyd Webber: Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat

        Still seeking Ludvig

I was searching for obscure Scandinavian composers named Ludvig.

I confess to guessing the Lloyd Webber first (not that many Andrews sprang to mind), then checked Handel (I wasn't aware of the piece!), and later assumed that Ludvig did indeed refer to Ludwig van Beethoven, and the piece crb11 mentions.

Me too - hence Mr Irgens-Jensen above - but none of them seem to have written anything helpful.

You seem to have identified the three.

There didn't seem to be much choice in potential Ks, so I hope this is OK!

Which K has associations with Washington DC, Manchester, and a district of Birmingham?

I think I've found a link, but sadly it's non-musical - (John Fitzgerald) Kennedy. There's a (recrteated) memorial mosaic in Birmingham, a school bearing his name in Manchester and then there's the Performing Arts Centre in Washington DC.

Brief and to the point but you've got it. Congrats!

JF Kennedy indeed has the Performing Arts Centre named after him. Michael Kennedy was an expert in classical music in Manchester (as well as being born there). Nigel Kennedy is known for supporting Aston Villa FC and even performing in their colours.

                            Over to you.
