So - is it Bruckner, Elgar and Ravel?

                "for starters" - a prelude/overture?

Or maybe the start of a work.

Whaddya mean "maybe"? You set the puzzle!

(And does the "starters" [plural] mean we're looking for openings of works by all three composers? With a similar Tempo/expressive direction for example?)

                      Or "Dawn" perhaps?

An anagram of Wand - as in "of Youth" (which would also be a "starter" for Elgar, being his Op1!)
And Gunter Wand - particularly associated with the Music of Anton Bruckner?

Two correct, and a Ravellian Dawn? Starting a piece or at least starting a second ...

Well, the opening of the Second Suite from Daphnis and Chloe, for example.

You could well be right but I'm glad you persevered when the reward is the dreaded X Y or Z, mind you could always go to A whilst nobody is looking.

You bet! I've had an A for ages (so much so that I've started to think it's already been set!) - the last time I bypassed a W, intending to solve a fiendish X/Y/Z, it skipped to A again!

And I've just realized that I was just one vowel away in my original answer!
