    Not bored, but still wondering.
My initial thought had been Victoria: Requiem, for the dead bit, and station (railway or bus) or carriage (for the get a lift bit), but subsequent hints have told me I'm on the wrong track here!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

"Valley" looks promising. But hold back any further clues for the time being, Cali - I'm intrigued, not "bored" ...

Just thought I'd put a reminder here to save me having to hunt for it!

"Getting a lift" suggests "Transport" - as in one of Messiaen's many "transports de ... ". Are we in Utah at all?

So maybe my Victoria carriage was not so far off after all.
But do you mean Des canyons aux etoiles here, ferney?
                        Are the canyons the valleys?

Hmm - I was wondering about the connections with Death Valley: but no "transports" associated there.

Shoiuld ferney be looking more at Ferde hewondreth?

Hokey-dokey - inspired by Cloughie's suggestion of Valley, I'm going for:

Ferde Grofe's Death Valley Suite, with its first three movements:

                            Funeral Mountains (= "a death")
                            49-er Emigrant Train (= "getting a lift")
Desert Water Hole (= "a stream")

But now that I've written that out, it doesn't look as convincing! (Not least because I can't see a connection to Gray's - or anyone else's - Anatomy.)

... or even Ma Vlast -

                              lots of death in Šárka

getting a lift : the knights rising up in Blaník

and ain't there that bluddy stream
