That clue has aided my research, which has come up with "Cecilia" in various pronunciations.

Gerald Finzi composed For St Cecilia, Op 30.

Cecilia Bartoli made her first public stage appearance as the shepherd boy in Tosca at the age of nine.

Bejamin Britten was a pupil of Arthur Benjamin and composed Hymn to St Cecilia, Op 27.

Works for me subs - to be honest my occasional friend and often enemy of Arthur (Garfunkel) was Paul Simon who composed Cecilia one of the many, IMVVHO, highlights on Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I was somewhat uncertain about the third Cecilia.

To move on, in this D Faust, Turandot, and Thomas (from Bristol) all made their first appearance.

I see that today is the seventh anniversary of the start of the first part this thread. 40433 posts in total so far, representing approximately 6.5 per cent of all posts on the Forum. When it started I thought we might perhaps go twice round the alphabet. Instead we plod on, continually finding new, interesting, and entertaining conumdrums.

[If anyone wants an alternative set of links for the same D I can offer it.]
