Also various references to something called A Winter Birth which seems to be to music by Ralph Nicholson
Lutyens was the one I had in mind.

We shall expect a suitable vehicle from you to transport us on the next stage of our journey.

      V will follow presently...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments

A V to connect Death, a Stream and getting a lift.

I've thought about connecting the Lieds Death and the Maiden (which starts "Vorüber! Ach, vorüber!...") and Auf dem Strom but there's no V in the latter's first line.

            Back to the drawing board...
            Pacta sunt servanda !!!

Ah... no, you're not. There are three composers involved, one for each part of the puzzle, and none of 'em a V

The former, Dr Flay. You'll need an Atlas, not Gray's "Anatomy" !

                        Ev'ry one a winner!

Not as far as I know. What might help, is that this puzzle was inspired by something by which I was riveted on telly on Tuesday evening
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

If anyone's getting bored, I could either tell you the answer - or perhaps the three composers associated with the three elements of the puzzle...?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
