This isn't any sort of clue but it is such a brilliant episode.

I love goats - and I was so glad to be able to watch it again with my breakfast this morning.

      My breakfast enjoyed it too.

      What N connects:

A soundtrack from a writer who once recorded impressions on a work by "Camus" which disappointed an American President
A pop record once banned by the BBC - ostensibly by its classical music establishment
A vocal work by Robert Schumann.......the words to which for some harsher critics are not worthy of the music he composed?

I think I'm going Nuts on this one, Lats - it must be the squirrel photo. Or even, with the bee's knees, "Honey Nuts" (which just happens to be the nickname given to me by ... oh; perhaps over-sharing there?)

A real help for me would be a clue/hint as to why ""Camus"" is in inverted commas

Yes....nuts it is....so Zig and Zag were a clue of sorts after all.

          They are pretty nuts.

Camus is in inverted commas because it isn't the obvious Camus which would be Albert.

You have coleslawed the squirrel - broadly symbolic of nuts - but not as yet the dozen components A-L.

          Thank you very much.

I think I am going to have to help you out here:

H, I and K refer to the first part of the first part of the puzzle.

A, B, E and J refer to the second part of the first part of the puzzle.

C, F and L refer to the second part of the puzzle.

D and G refer to the third part of the puzzle.

I wouldn't necessarily expect you to get all of A,B, E and J.

You don't happen to actually know Edith Beckersgill, do you? If so, do pass on my regards and fondest memories.

                    It is - yes!

The character of the answer might have been obvious from the character of the question and the character of the clues.

Sadly they are not my Camus.

Well, fasten your safety belts ...

Dave Sale is an American polymath who performed under the name of "Camus". He also wrote & produced an album by singer Katherine Whalan, who had previously been part of the band "Squirrel Nut Zippers". Part of said beat combo was also Tom Edward Maxwell (not to be confused with rock guitarist, Tom Maxwell, because that would waste half the bloody afternoon disappearing up your own fundamentals in the information labyrinth that is Wikipedia), who wrote the score of the animated film Happily N'ever After ... which has no connection with any American President that I can find. (But then I've probably fallen onto the erroneous cul-de-sac in presuming you meant political Presidents.)

                          My tea's gone cold.

There are no polymaths or rock bands in either the first part or the second part of the first part of the puzzle.

I would steer away from Camus - as previously explained, that is in the bit that you are not expected to get!

Who is the man in picture H?

But, Lats - when somebody tells me I'm not expected to do something, that's the bit I concentrate on! Disappointing others' expectations is a lifelong talent of mine!
