    Maurice Ravel's Pavane
Alexander Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg based on Oscar Wilde's The Birthday of the Infanta
and either John Alden Carpenter's opera on the same Wilde story
    or John Casken's Infanta Marina

Brilliant tenacity, Lats - you've earnt the next Jollies!
    Thank you.

    Very kind.

A lot of terriers are characterized by a minimum level of functional intelligence. They require between 40 and 80 repetitions in order to have an acceptable performance and enjoy many adventures in a perambulator.

So much for the joyride. I hope to deliver a foxing J on Boxing Day (or the start of the bandy season as it is known in Sweden).

Anna (formerly of this parish - and if she's looking in today, Merry Christmas, Cariad!) once described my activities on AlphaAss as "like a terrier" - at the time I was rather chuffed!

She would have been thinking about Welsh Terriers.

They are smarter than the average terrier so I expect it was a compliment.

(Those of a Welsh Terrier personality should be able to decide quickly whether an odd fact about a Scandinavian country is a helpful early clue or a complete red herring)

It's Boxing Day and this will be very easy for classical music experts.

                What J links:

                (a) A collaboration - Etienne, Charles and one other (but not Rubinstein, Arthur or Roland)
                (b) One - the offspring of a man named Etienne - who created an unsung Roland but not in the same way as another by one named Charles
                (c) An Arthur Rubinstein collaboration (not so far as I am aware involving Roland, Charles or Etienne in any sense they are mentioned here)?

                I love this picture:

                  No guesses yet.

                  Still, I like this picture:

That's ok then ferney - it has given me time to check today's all important results .

Villa Lidkoping beat Kalix 6-3 while Edsbyns caught home side Bolinas on the hop with a 3-2 win.

So much better than football dontcha think.

I don't usually contribute to puzzles immediately after I've set one, but to push the ball a bit further onto the field - is (one of) the "Charles(es)", Ives, and is the "Roland" there a reference to "Rollo"?
