I had a record once of music by Schutz, Schein and Scheidt. It sounded like the sort of thing an army sergeant would shout at the troops: Schutz, Schein and Scheidt, at the double now, you 'orrible lot!

I cant think of any composer I'm like, but I'd like to be like Richard Strauss, 'cos he made lots of money.

You'd better, Flossie ... he called Herr Brahms some really horrid names and we don't want you and Caliban falling out?

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

Lurching off the topic a bit, and since you mention him, I wonder if folks have opinions about, or saw (?) Stephen Ward. The Musical?

and indeed the Schytte (except that this is pronounced like "shoot")...

Anyway, to return to the question posed in the thread topic, what about some answers from other composers here?

I once did one of those online 'what composer are you' quizzes. It said I was Robert Schumann! I hate lieder, if he hadn't written so much of that dirgey stuff he wouldn't have been half so depressed I reckon.
