Talking of station vending machines; does anyone remember a chocolate bar called a Feast? Purple wrapper, I think. (I think there was an ice cream of the same name but this was definitely a chocolate bar.) Only ever saw them at railway stations. 10p and then pull out the drawer at the bottom. Oh, and remember the chewing/bubble gum machines outside newsagents? Beechnut, Wrigleys and the one in a plastic container. Surprised more weren't vandalised...

There's a Nestlé Feast wrapper depicted here, among other things further down the page..."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Don't we repeat just about everything here, even sometimes on the same thread?
Yes, we've certainly had the choc/toffee bar thing before ... I remember once bewailing the absence of Lees Macaroon Bars, Snowballs and McCowan's Highland Toffee (3d plain, 4d chocolate-coated) ... and also some fizzy drinks.
Talking of which, my boyhood favourites were those tins of Creamola Foam Powder in all sorts of flavours. Not that there was much else around in the 1950's, as fridges and domestic cool drinks were still largely unattainable and exotic American things. Creamola Foam was yet another cunningly-inventive Scottish thing that only required the addition of tap-water which, of course, is already lovely and cool and in plentiful supply there.
And we could even enjoy all those great, refreshing wee drinks without repeated dire warnings from Nanny State/BMA what a terrible fate might await us if we did.

On the other hand, it also enables us sometimes to post a reply that we'd (ehem - read "I'd") thought we'd made earlier, but hadn't. I was sure that three years ago I'd rebutted the "Bar Six was only available in Swimming Baths Vending Machines" suggestion - my brother used to sell them in his shop (from the counter).
And,if Mdm Suggia had chosen to repeat her Cadbury's Chocolate Animals joke, I would have forgotten it by nowNumquam Satis!
