If ferney says 'tis so, it must be so. (I have just downloaded an old edition of Æthelweardi Chronicon, though was disappointed that it was in English )

Oh - I hate it when that happens.

Incidentally (and as far off-topic as I can imagine) does anyone know if it's possible to get a (reproduction!) edition of the very first Brewer Dictionary of Phrase & Fable?

Nothing dubious about Phil (apart from his widow who really should shut up about her granddaughters boyfriend)

Couldn't resist that, but, no, I can't see that there's ever been a photographic reprint of the original. I do seem (rather to my surprise) to have downloaded a pdf of it, if you're interested in it for reference purposes only. It seems to be fully searchable. I can't see a date but it was a 1901 bequest and is very battered, ref mark seems to indicate it was 1870. Abebooks had an 1872 edition, costing £250.

Indeed he did. But after keeping time for so well for so many years ....
...and where has the time gone since?
