I've got a great idea MrP which i'm sure you will agree with
all these courts and judges and the like that we have are a really unnecessary expense at this time of financial difficulty
so lets do away with them all , closing all law departments at Universities will also save a fortune and there are lots of buildings on what is prime development land. The Royal Courts of Justice will make a super 5* hotel
we can simply do away with all of it and shoot the baddies
then we can all sleep soundly in our beds can't we

I can't tell fully what I'm thinking, friends. I ain't so certain as to pick a side to sit on. I can't feel too outraged, although I agree with the rule of law. Folk in the past would point with disgust at middle-eastern folk dancing in the street after a terror attack, and I do find such acts repulsive, but now the Americans do it. Folk find the American celebrating repulsive, but truly, it heartens me. More real honest humanity coming out there, and moral equality on both sides. That should lead to some kinda understanding, but I guess it probably won't.

But what sort of moral 'equality' do you want? Reduced to the lowest, or higher up the 'justice' scale?

There has been a great deal of jubilation in the USA & UK govts about the 'Arab Spring' revolutions & the introduction of democracy, but you can be sure that once things have settled down the USA govt (& the UK, riding on their coat-tails) will decide that it's not the 'right kind of democracy' (ie, it doesn't deliver the results that the USA/UK want). How supportive have they been of the elected Hamas govt in Palestine?

            Ah yes, the
            right kind of democracy
            that is the Hamas government:-

Funny sort of democracy, isn't it?

But then it's not AMERICAN democracy, so therefore you approve..

What a simple world it must be for you, where everything America does is automatically evil.

So much simpler than having to actually think things through.

President of the Families of Flight 93 calls the announcement of bin Laden's death 'important news' for 9/11 families, saying he was always confident the al Qaida leader would be found.

As I've said already, the death of OBL changes nothing and he was not unique in his fundamentalism.

It's a bit like imagining that that if you were to take out the Dalai Lamai then you'd purge the world of buddhism.

A typically nonsensical response. Keep taking the tablets, Mr GG.

You can never offer a valid argument, Mr Pee, engaging with someone else's point of view, just schoolyard ner-ner-ner stuff

Back to the brochures, I'm afraid

What do people think of this photo of Piccadilly on 8 May 1945? I'm genuinely interested because I can't predict the answers.

I have offered plenty of arguments, Amateur- the fact that you don't agree with them doesn't meant they don't exist!

However, if you read Mr GG's idiotic post, you must surely understand why I responded in the manner I did.

And if you want to talk about

                      schoolyard ner-ner-ner stuff
I'd refer you back to the juvenile tirade of abuse that you, Flossie and Mr GG have been hurling in Simon's direction for some considerable time.

I am struck by the fact that they felt a need to congregate essentially to celebrate murder. However, there is a dignity there - no sports team style nationalistic chanting, not that many flags, no one with a bare chest or their breasts out, no one with tattoos and a beer bottle in hand, no celebrities, no archbishops or imams, no politicians, no television journalists and no kids in prams.

Errmmm I don't know if you've noticed, Mr Pee but you and Simon are cut from the same intellectual J-cloth

If you could offer me an argument (something laden with reason, and which doesn't hit the net on your first service) as opposed to a Speaker's Corner-type rant I'd be happy to address it, my ol' flower

I'm really at a loss to know what part of my suggestion you disagree with ?
you are perfectly happy with assassination as a solution which bypasses the law
so why not get rid of it all ?

I only hope YOU never are accused of anything , (or maybe you think that the accused should be shot just in case they might have done something wrong ?)
NO ONE (except in your strange mind !) is suggesting anything against the view that this man was dangerous and responsible for terrible things BUT to advocate the abandonment of the law is to remove all legitimacy. The message is clear IMV " we are big, we are strong so we can do what we like !
