I was sad to learn this morning of the death this week of Sandy Faris. I had the pleasure and honour of knowing him a little, having met and advised him on a couple of issues (my firm were his lawyers). To go to his lovely flat (acquired decades ago for four-and-sixpence or similar) in Primrose Hill was a treat, the place was packed with musical memorabilia, and one's time with him was packed with musical anecdotes.
And a thrill to have had the luck to know the chap who wrote a couple of the most-whistled theme tunes around our house when I was little, from 'Upstairs, Downstairs', much-watched at home when first broadcast![ok](https://www.for3.org/forums/core/images/smilies/f_ok.gif)
A gentleman and a true musician. RIP.
