Donald Macleod "...7 years to get my photos of local knobs & knockers up on the wall"

Donald M on Twitter - a lovely turn of phrase, a wry sense of humour & a keen eye for detail.

Hah! I've finally just hung my last pictures on the wall (though in my case a watercolour, two aquatints and some clip-framed railway posters). I bought some self-adhesive hooks but misunderstood the advert as I thought I was ordering 6 hooks, but I ordered 6 packets of 6 hooks = 36 hooks. So if anyone needs any self-adhesive picture hooks ... (Pity, if I'd known about DM's knobs and knockers I might have been able to get rid of 20 of them)
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I've always had doubts about Donald; this seems to confirm them. I think he must have gone potty. And then , to want to proclaim it to the world. He makes Michael Jackson seem like G E Moore by comparison. .

Thanks for the offer, ff, but my experience of 'self-adhesive ' coat hooks is thatthey come unadhesive at inconvenient moments.

So have I, in fact just about every wall in the cottage is covered thus and I've taken to easels, of which I have three dotted about the place....I'm forbidden to buy any more paintings My stairwell has my collection of signed photos of singers.

          Edit: photo redacted

That's actually a painting on the opposite wall called 'Old man with beard and camera'

I've tried two kinds. The first one indeed behaved as you say. When a small watercolour and pinboard in the hall descended abruptly with a crash I decided I hadn't read the instructions properly. I rehung the pinboard but some hours later it again descended abruptly. But the current hooks are of a different kind. The pins of ordinary metal picture hooks have buckled under the shock of being hammered into the walls, so I gave up on them. Old-fashioned picture rails and the simple curved hooks that went with them were unfailingly efficient.

Advised by a well-wisher that the photo may void my insurance policy! So instead as per Donald Macleod's, my stairwell. These are the female singers, the males are on the other wall........so, in a way Knobs and Knockers.

That's it! The 'others' have their own space.......counter-tenors, those who habitually perform pants roles....especially Octavian!
