Many slipped quietly out of the US across the border into Canada. Rich guys - you know of one for sure - wangled medical exemptions. A disproportionate number of casualties of the war were poor young Black men.

Couldn't help noticing the absence of Lesbian/Lesbianism from that extraordinary list. Perhaps because, "Hey dude, didn't one of your queens believe it to be impossible?"

So did I - went up to £12 last week. It was promotional - maybe a year. Buggers reeled me in with Wordle.
        It's a decent newspaper though.

Try Quordle or Octordle here instead (though I don't need a subscription for Wordle):

Just checked and yes it was 2 euros a month for a year, then 12.
That's still the case for new subscribers, and imo 24 euros a year is a bargain. 144 a year, not so much.

Thanks, and I think it was the streak tracking and stats I wanted. I'm also hooked on the Connections game. And the history quiz.
Might just re-sub with a different email.

Just cancelled. I think the increase to £12 was flagged right from the start.

I access Wordle without subscribing but don't do any other NYT puzzles. You might like to try Byrdle if you have an interest in choral/church music. No subscription or sign in but you lose your streak if you forget to do it one day.

Cancel - wait a few months - and then rejoin when there's an offer. The NYT has perhaps the best stuff, but the Washington Post and the Boston Globe often cover the same stuff- and also have offers, again with the cancel anytime deals. Best to make sure you do cancel as the year long deals run out.

Thinking about Trump, Vance and Musk: three reasons to be thankful for professional politicians 😎
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I don't have to think about them, do I?

No, you don't have to, but I was just thinking about the political chaos being caused by a trio of incompetent amateurs.

Understood! It's ironic, in a way, that a TV comedian-turned-statesman is trying to 'deal' with a TV show-host-turned-dangerous-clown.
