Thanks v, I was feeling ever so slightly (ever so slightly) guilty that my heart leapt when I saw the result..."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Time can change views - I have gone off Djokovic during this tournament!

Of course it wd have been even better had Federer or Nadal won. But at least there was the satisfaction that Murray was defeated.
Hard luck, Andy Murray ... sixth time lucky?

Serena was a bit of a surprise, but couldn't hold against Kerber this time round.

Belated respects to the family of the great Gerald Williams who began his career on the Croydon Advertiser.
In my humble opinion, he was second only to Dan Maskell in the history of tennis broadcasting:
Around the turn of the month, Danny Kelly interviewed Virigina Wade for an hour or two on Talksport.
Now 70, she described herself as a fortunate person who had never known a day when she felt miserable.
It ranged from past times to modern tennis - an unexpected second golden era - and was very uplifting.Last edited by Lat-Literal; 11-02-16, 18:45.

A question.
When tennis is played in the RAH, the court always appears to have been narrowed slightly. I assumed, therefore, that there was some flexibility in the width of the court, but now I understand that the dimensions are fixed.
It could just be the camera position being different in the RAH. Or it could be the organisers having to cheat a little, owing to the restricted space.
I hope it's the former.

A belated double well done to Andy Murray.

We normally see a foreshortened view.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
