"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Cruel after all, as the judge said, "What more could he have done?" (Answer: Get vaccinated, self isolate, give correct information to the authorities).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

In their different ways, Novak Djoković, Boris Johnson and Andrew Windsor have created a sense of hope in these otherwise depressing times that perhaps men who believe they can get away with anything, because they're good at tennis or at lying or at being the descendant of some mediaeval chieftain or other, might not automatically be right.

He caught it twice: once last month, and once in the summer of 2020, when he organised the misguided - and ill-disciplined, obviously, given that various players were out partying rather than keeping within a bubble - "Adria" tour.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
