Have never been quite sure if the worst month is September, October or January. However, the worst date by far in the calendar year is 16th September. I could suggest that is when the US will bomb North Korea but that would be purely from the mindset of ten years ago. On that matter, I'm indifferent - nor have I knowingly accessed the mass media for a week.

(all I've heard is we are paying millions to a mega-rich tax haven because they have had a bit of rain - I think they and the crooks they house, ironically none virgins, should pay for it)

          (otherwise it isn't God's will)

What's wrong with September? I can think of far worse months. There's this, f course:

Read November poem by Thomas Hood written. November poem is from Thomas Hood poems. November poem summary, analysis and comments.

But for me it's the dreary dark days of Jan and Feb that are the worst..in England, anyway.

But January and, yo.... Februwary each have the considerable promise of Spring.
September just has Halloween, sum fire-worked dogs and the Daddy Xmas thing.

(But is it jazz?.......nope, I shouldn't have thought so......wee..ll, awright Chief)

Poor Chief always seems to get stressed from Max & his stupidity

One of the more annoying features of September is people grumbling about it being September.........

OK maybe it isn't the best time for people like teachers, but really, the weather is often lovely, and a golden September Saturday is a great bonus and a great joy,IMO. It is a beautiful morning here in S Wilts.

I think the weather plays a big part in how one feels about September . Horrible autumn weather like we have been having cold and wet makes it seem the harbinger of winter . A warm, sunny September feels like an extension of summer . Going back to school and work I think also plays a part in why a lot of people dislike it as a month .

... don't give up. An "Indian Summer", if we have such a thing, falls in the period late-September to early-November. Give it a chance.

What has happened to the weather - a brilliant August Bank Holiday -all three days. Usually it's part of a wet spell, waiting for the schools to go back then glourious sunshine - 'appen next week then!

I'm hoping it will have kicked in by Saturday, as that's when we're having the Allotments Open Day this year!

It'll be fine, not necessarily loads of sun. Have a good day - and no doubt some good harvest celebration.

If it rains, that will be the LAST STRAW!

I think the idea of winter being postponed and foreshortened when summer temperatures hold up longer than expected also adds to that feeling.
