iPlayer programmes being taken down too early

I thought that the recent TV programmes on Temperature were good, and I have watched the first two episodes.

Now I noticed that the first episode does not seem to be available any more, and the second will be taken down tomorrow.

No wonder that so many people are ignorant of science, and don't have any real engagement with it.

I will watch episode 3 quickly, but really this is very poor.

I highly recommend these programmes.

The programmes mentioned seem to have first aired in 2018. They will no doubt appear again in due course, whereupon they will be on iplayer for a further period.

Most programmes are available on iPlayer for 30 days, so it's best to check regularly.

That's not my only point though. It's about the relative weighting of "importance" of programme material. There is little enough really good material on TV, so programmes like this which are definitely better than some of the more trivial ones should be available for longer.

Even allowing for some problems with the particular programme - such as the demonstration of water dropping being bent in proximity to a charged plastic [I assume] cylinder not being thorough enough - it's a lot better than most of the pap which gets put out.

The particular demonstration relies on viewers taking it as "obvious" that water dropped down next to an uncharged object will go straight down [probably true, but needs to be shown/checked] and also since the nature of the charge is not mentioned, it would be interesting to see what happens if the cylinder [or a similar one] has the opposite charge. Also viewers have to take on trust something about what they "know" - the formula for water, plus accepting the discussion about the geometry of water molecules.
