Not intentionally on my part - and, given that there are now more posts to it, evidently not!

I know that you didn't - I did - but the reason for so doing ought to be fairly obvious! I cannot account for the failure to which you admit but instead urge you to have a further think about it - it ain't "rocket science", as the cliché has it...

Competition, ahinton, competition ... it's all around us, dammit, if you care to look!
Oh, of course it is - I have not suggested otherwise; I merely sought to point out that competition has its place - and also its not place...

                Who is?

Anyway, as long as next year's season doen't include a Strictly Come Promming...the risible vision of Sarah Walker (no, not that one - the other one) years ago draped in a flag singing Rule! Britannia was toe-curling enough (although I concede that it was momentarily quite funny) without the risk that La Katie does a tango to it draped in a Radio 3 flag...

No and I don't think the Monkey Hangers ever got a mention in Queen Victoria's diary ......

Maybe not, but that shocking, needless murder of a poor, innocent monkey-being is still commemorated annually in our house ...

You've probably heard this but it's worth repeating:

The most famous - apocryphal - story ever told about Peter Mandelson involved him walking into a chip shop in Hartlepool, pointing at the mushy peas and asking for some 'avocado dip'.

My earlier response to this was insufficient, for which I offer due apology; I have indeed heard of Hartlepool because that's where the pianist Ian Pace comes from.
