    Android music players

I have recently experimented with putting some of my music collection into my in-car android computer.
All the android music players I've tried are obsessed with "songs" and their performers: I can't find one which will sort by composer.
I tried moving the albums into folders for each composer but the player looked right through the folders as if they weren't there and put up the same list of albums, songs and performers.
Has anyone found a good android player for classical collections?

Shouldn't this be posted under the Techie sub-forum?

Have you set tags for the music files? If so, one option that is commonly used is:

Put the composer surname into the (Track) Artist tag and put something like "Composer - Work - Main Performer" or "Composer: Work (Main Performer)" as the album tag.

If that works you might want to try adding the main performer in in Album Artist tag.

For Windows THE standard recommendation for tagging software is "mp3tag", which is free (and doesn't just tag mp3 files): http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

James, I'm afraid that you've come up against Anastasius's Law 1 which states that "All mainstream music applications are classical-unfriendly"
