BBC website nag screen "Signing in is quick and easy"
Such messages always take the line that you will be thrilled to have access to all the extraneous stuff, and it is therefore a selling point. Even if I was in a position to use the likes of Sounds etc, I would just see it as a whole load of stuff I'm not interested in, but will have foisted on me anyway, getting in the way of what I actually want to find. The likes of utility companies and banks do it and it is such an infuriating waste of time having to wade through the pages of "did you know?", "have you seen this?", just to get to my latest statement for instance.

Sounds is an absolute pain and I avoid it like the plague.
It also annoys me that I struggle to identify with the deliriously happy / young / hip / trendy people Auntie insists on plastering everywhere. Will listening to Radio 3 magically morph me in to one of them?
For example:
Yes, Ein Heldenleben, I can't think of another streaming site that nags so much.
An occasional request to log in to my BBC account is not one of the (thankfully) few things that still irritate me these days, and I'm sure I'm not the only person to find Sounds extremely useful.

I'm just more irritable / irritating
Sadly, it's been multiple a day for the nag screen (possibly a cookie issue?)
From what I can see, Sounds seems be tailored for playlist music, such as Radio 1 might play. The old iPlayer worked reasonably well for both drama & music.
I never have to sign in to BBC sites, except, obviously, when I set them up years ago. They are all there on my laptop and phone: news, Sounds, weather, Proms archive etc all easily accessible with a single click on the app without signing in. Sounds is simple to navigate, not tailored to playlists at all unless you want that.
I'm not sure what the problem is.

I object to being signed in, and being reminded to do so (because I'm not).
I don't use the Sounds App (it won't run on my Samsung S5 mini) and mainly access BBC content from desktop computers.
Horses for courses, Petrushka, I'm happy that you like Sounds & it meets your needs.
BTW, Google Play lists the following data as being collected / shared by the Android BBC Sounds app..
It also notes that "You can request that data be deleted" - I have no idea how easy this is to do though...
Data collected
App activity & interactions (for App functionality, Analytics, Advertising or marketing, Personalization)
In-app search history (for Analytics)
Location / Approximate location
Personal info - Name, Email address, User IDs, Address, and Other info (for App functionality, Analytics, Advertising or marketing, Fraud prevention, security, and compliance, Personalization, Account management...)
Device or other IDs (for App functionality, Analytics, Advertising or marketing, Fraud prevention, security, and compliance, Personalization)
Data shared (Data that may be shared with other companies or organizations)
User IDs (for Analytics, Advertising or marketing)
Device or other IDs (for Analytics, Advertising or marketing)
Update:
The BBC Sounds app privacy notice has more information and an account/data delete link.
You can request a copy of the data associated with your BBC account via this link - it makes interesting reading.

Just popped SOUNDS on a Samsung tablet and, yes, it has changed from when I last tried it.
Sadly, I stuggled to navigate the pieces with TTN and the Tracklist links don't seem to work (Spotify?)
Petrushka, are you using an Apple device?
On the homepage "Music You'll Love" has "Tear Jerker", "Mindful Mix" & "Courtney Love's Women"
... and R2 is the default.
....I blame David Attenborough - as soon as they put his photo on opening page for signing in....blaa blaa
But otherwise I am as Petruska....rarely asked to sign in and if I am it's usually because I myself have clickrd wrongly....but I only use via laptop....so sorry for those who have this frustrating problem, ooo has been afflicted for a long time....
I thought you were saying that you were signed in but still kept on getting reminders to sign in.
I signed in to the BBC site in 2008 when the Forum was still run by them and it still remembers my Forum name from that time.
As for data/privacy concerns, to be honest I'm too old to worry about all that now.
I think I may get asked to sign in again after I've had a cookies clear out, although that doesn't seem to be the case with Amazon and Netflix for example.
As for data/privacy concerns - well, I suspect they know all they think they ned to know about me and as far as I'm aware it hasn't affected me in any way.
I'm on Android on mobile phone and Google Chrome/Windows 10 for laptop. On my phone the Sounds app comes up with all the stations which I can select. Clicking R3 brings up the live feed. I can alternatively click on 'station and schedules' and can access that days programmes or go backwards.
I actually prefer listening to Sounds on my phone via Bluetooth as it's strangely better than my main system. I've mentioned before that I have to whack up the volume when listening to the radio on my main system as music seems to be broadcast at a low level on R3.
