Many of today's cyclists don't operate the principle that sharing the pathway means deferring to pedestrians and animals. It's the safest and most civilised way
P.S. Just back from a 2 hour ride in time for Nielsen 2 on the radio!

These days I take the train to Cheshunt (from Seven Sisters) and we (the Lurcher and me, and occasionally the sane one in the family as well), do a five or 6 mile walk and back to Cheshunt Station.
I also have a favourite pub in Waltham Abbey when I walk there. (The Welsh Harp). (With a nice tearoom next door ...)
I do in fact usually average 6.5 miles walking per day - summer and winter - as it defers the date when I'm sealed up in a bin liner and dumped at sea.
I'm discovereing more and more of the Essex farmland countryside - and it beats musak anyday!

Re sea burials, I think natural fabrics are favourite, if you're going for that option, as it's easier for the crabs to recycle you, and you don't add to the plastic already floating about out there

I don't know how many miles I do but I regularly join the river from Hackney Wick or Baker's Hill and ride to Ponder's End lock and back. I go to Broxbourne too. I'm often out for 4 hours, stopping here and there for five minutes.
I don't like cycling in the winter, too cold and wet, I walk instead.

Bonnie's doing OK but prefers the winter as its cooler. I would prefer to live in Cornwall where we were on holiday until a week ago, as its cooler and the scenery is superb. And no mobile phone signals in areas there, and no Radio 3 ... and no awful Prom concerts ... (wink). (At least i don't have to hear Bach massacred by Grade 7 violinists ...)
