I bought one to wear in a concert when we had blazing headlights to enable the audience to see us (the choir), but the lighting behind (to read the music) was non-existent.

It would be better combined with one of those cameras cyclists increasingly use to record themselves being cut up by other road users, though.

Tell me more! Maybe I'm on the completely wrong track.

That would only work on bald heads though.

I often walk with my Lurcher along the River Lea. You may have been one of the cyclists I cursed at ... (wink)

I also walk along the River Lea quite often and I curse cyclists too!

Many of today's cyclists don't operate the principle that sharing the pathway means deferring to pedestrians and animals. It's the safest and most civilised way

P.S. Just back from a 2 hour ride in time for Nielsen 2 on the radio!

I nearly ended up in the river on a hired bike about 4 years ago after only one pint in the pub!

These days I take the train to Cheshunt (from Seven Sisters) and we (the Lurcher and me, and occasionally the sane one in the family as well), do a five or 6 mile walk and back to Cheshunt Station.

I also have a favourite pub in Waltham Abbey when I walk there. (The Welsh Harp). (With a nice tearoom next door ...)

I do in fact usually average 6.5 miles walking per day - summer and winter - as it defers the date when I'm sealed up in a bin liner and dumped at sea.

I'm discovereing more and more of the Essex farmland countryside - and it beats musak anyday!

Delighted the Lurcher's still doing well, A - I was afraid to ask.

Re sea burials, I think natural fabrics are favourite, if you're going for that option, as it's easier for the crabs to recycle you, and you don't add to the plastic already floating about out there

I know the Welsh Harp very well and the tea room next door (although I haven't been in there for more than 25 years!). We used to drive out that way to go to 'the country' for an afternoon out! They used to do nice toasted fruit buns!

I don't know how many miles I do but I regularly join the river from Hackney Wick or Baker's Hill and ride to Ponder's End lock and back. I go to Broxbourne too. I'm often out for 4 hours, stopping here and there for five minutes.

I don't like cycling in the winter, too cold and wet, I walk instead.

Yes, I think I meant that I would be slid out of the plastic so as not to polute the environment.

Bonnie's doing OK but prefers the winter as its cooler. I would prefer to live in Cornwall where we were on holiday until a week ago, as its cooler and the scenery is superb. And no mobile phone signals in areas there, and no Radio 3 ... and no awful Prom concerts ... (wink). (At least i don't have to hear Bach massacred by Grade 7 violinists ...)
