Might this presage Alsop winning the Brahms 3 BaL?

I have to own up: it was my brother's joke. I gave him a CD of The Sixteen, Harry Christophers, for a Christmas present. At which he said: "What? Sixteen of them? All called Harry Christopher?" Collapse of younger sister.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

As for the several Cliff Richards, give me the sixteen Harry Christophers any day.

Not to mention those Johns Hopkinses.

I was always heard it as Roger Scovey-Crump.

More to the point: Who Rogers Covey Crump?

                            Isn't he a counter-tenor?

And over on Radio 4 I was perplexed for years by their calling a lady 'Smear Ahmed'. And there was a news reader called (varoiusly) Gorry Corfield, Garrick Orfield , Corry Gorfield, etc.

                              Tenor, apparently!

A profile of Rogers Covey-Crump (Tenor) and details of their recordings available to browse and buy.

He has sometimes been identified as an haute-contre tenor
Is now 80, which reminds me that I am no longer as young as my head thinks...
