Are we any clearer as to the rules of its game e.g. can you keep your downloads forever as long as your Direct Debit doesn't bounce?
May I join you in your farmyard of shame, among the nags and the swine?

Yes, I kept my subscription going. I love the ability to try multiple versions complete before I buy (or not buy).

And re: your question. If you download having purchased separately, you have them permanently (whatever that means in the internet context). Tracks you've simply listened to on the subscription will surely disappear if you cancel your direct debit. (In the same way, you can slide the former onto the old iPod etc, but not the latter).

I always knew you were a man of distinction- a real big spender, Rumpole ......

I am endlessly impressed by the size of the catalogue - I had a slight panic but then there she was - the magnificent Germaine Thyssens-Valentin .....

        And good use here, too.

Was very pleased to see over 20 CDs of Helmut Lachenmann's music on Apple music. How good is that!!?

A most rewarding late afernoon/early evening listen.

Currently listening to 'An Anthology of Noise and Electronic Music Vol. 5 - Fifth A-chronology 1920-2007' which also contains a work by Lachenmann.

Except I shall buy a higher quality download from The Classical Shop, not from Apple.
And I did indeed go on to purchase the ALAC from The Classical Shop...

I paid for and downloaded a Boulez & Stockhausen recording from them a couple of days ago.

They might be in trouble, and they could go out of business at some point, but the rest is just the usual forum hysteria.

Is that the only criterion? She's on Qobuz too - for the moment.
If it goes down I'll reconsider Apple Music.

If you mean Qobuz then 'no'. Qobuz goes from strength to strength, IMO.

So what is it that you can report that changes the situation since http://www.musicbusinessworldwide.co...-receivership/ ?

On the apple thing - is it possible to do playlists and burn CDs from streamed items?

I don't think you can burn CDs Cloughers but you can do playlists and download them to iPods etc. - so you can go for a long walk with the best of Solti .....

I retained his Elgar symphonies - oh, and 'Die Frau ohne Schatten'. Didn't have much else by him, tbh. There are usually preferable versions to most of his interpretations...

Surely Cali, the preference is in the ear of the listener and Solti usually came up with something different. His Elgar is interesting - modelled on the composer's recordings - my preference is for something more expansive Sir J rather than Sir G, but his Schumann 2 is my cuppa as was his old Romantic Russia LP. I have his R St Opera box to savour when I have a half day plus to spare.

Good for you cloughster - and indeed, the words "to me" I hoped were implicit after "preferable". And yes, I too would put others' Elgar some way ahead (Boult/LPO - Lyrita for me) but interesting to hear GS's 'Elgarian' approach.
