You are without doubt a better man than I, and it seems I am damned to languish in Beefy hell.
Anyway I prefer it in German, and have the Solti box - it's good enough for me!"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Good to see people fessing up.
a Beef Oven's " Hang your head in shame " thread is surely needed.
( I did have that set but I left it on the bus/ lent it And didnt get it back/ left it in the sun and it warped/ or something).I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

It's the only thing I like Solti in ...! I'm fine with the CDs! (Found the nice slimline dark blue box very cheap in a little shop in Berlin. Came back with half a dozen - everyone got a ring in their pudding that Christmas! )

Over the years, having heard many different performances of the ring, I found the Solti a bit over the top. When I came to the Goodall recordings, I was blown away. For me no one else comes close in this work.
Worth a mention is Gunther Neuhold and the Badische Staatskapelle. I picked this set up new in a shop on the south bank for about £9 a few years back. it has a wonderful 'chamber' feel and surprisingly good singing.
Back to the Solti, of course it's a great set of performances and I wouldn't be without it. I just struggle with all the fireworks (but it is spectacular!). I will be playing a scene or two from it later!

The Apple Music interface and information seems to change daily. Yesterday I reported on a collection of British music, including works by Britten and Rubbra - and there was an Op 55 piano concerto, which I decided eventually was Rubbra's. Today in "New" (AM) the Op 55 concerto does not exist in that collection. However, if the ... (3 dots) method is used to navigate to the album in the iTunes store, that concerto is definitely in the collection.

Classic use of Apple Music today - having heard an impressive clip from the new(ish) LPO / Skrowaczewski Bruckner 3 on a recorded section from a recent CD Review, I was able instantly to listen to the full thing
Except I shall buy a higher quality download from The Classical Shop, not from Apple.
Cracking performance, esp. the last two movements (based on one listen). Wish I'd been there.
(Going to hear the same combo in No 5 later in the year, hope SS is still on top form at 92 (by the time of the concert) )"...the isle is full of noises,

Unless I've missed something we haven't trotted the Apple Music nag round the track for a while ..... ????
Am I the only gullible swine who has continued with their subscription when the Rumpole "3 free" expired?
Are we any clearer as to the rules of its game e.g. can you keep your downloads forever as long as your Direct Debit doesn't bounce?
