Might want to wait before jumping aboard.

I'm not in the apple environment, but (and I might not be exactly right here) it seems if you had iTunes Match and have now gone for the streamed service, there is a major meltdown on metadata/tagging and album artwork, particularly if you have tailored any of it yourself. Folks are saying its equivalent to a scene of devastation.

Hope I'm wrong about this, if any of you are in the affected category........

I have iTunes Match and I've been using Apple Music with it for over a week, having 'jumped aboard' almost from day one. I have experienced no metadata/tagging or artwork (incl self uploaded) problems whatsoever.

I guess you can't add anything further, what with not being in the 'Apple environment' as you say, but are there any Apple iTunes Match & Apple Music users that can share their experience on here?

Our audio paths diverge here, Beefo... I confess I've never heard of iTunes Match, still less used it!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

iTunes Match is a facility that allows your iTunes Library to be available on a number of devices, desktop, laptop, iPad, smartphone etc (they don't have to be Apple devices). You switch on iTunes Match on your main device iTunes library and all your music is matched in the cloud. You then can switch on iTunes match on any other device and you have access to your iTunes library on that device.

So for example when I switch on Match on my phone, I then blue tooth it to my car and I can access my iTunes library in the car. I use the iPad around the house, linked to my main iTunes Library.

You can send music from your phone or iPad etc to your main system via Airport too.

You can store limitless Apple-bought iTunes songs in the cloud (maximum 20,000 non Apple-bought iTunes songs). £20 p.a. is the charge.

Ah - that's why then, thanks. Don't have iPhone, iPad &c. &c. Only interested in the MacBook Pro hooking up with the Hi Fi.

Will bear in mind in case things change

If I'd spent much of my time organising iTunes for my music, then I wouldn't be at all happy if it went into meltdown. I'm glad all is well for you, and if this was an unnecessary warning then I'm sorry about that. This, however, was the experience of a poster (earlier today) from a different forum. He indicated he is not alone, but perhaps its just a problem for a minority.........or not at all. As you say, and I indicated, I'm not a participant in apple/iTunes/match/music etc.

                    "Aaaargh!
iTunes Match on my iPad has now descended into a disorganised ******* shambles!
This is soul destroying! I'm tempted to boot the whole Apple system into touch and go for something reliable and stable.

                    ++++++++++

Spent some time researching this morning and it's not looking good. There seems to be widespread tearing out of hair, but Apple as usual isn't paying much attention.
As far as I can see, you're ok if you just want to play "tunes", but if you're interested in keeping albums properly organised you're well and truly screwed"

                      Sounds bad!

All good here, no problems at all. iTunes Match, Apple Music, iTunes working as usual across all devices (MacBook, iPad & iPhone).

All albums properly organised, artwork fine, metadata as was..........I hope I'm not tempting providence, but maybe let's not jump to conclusions.

There was a problem for people signing up to Apple Music if they had once been a user of iTunes Match but stopped using it. It has now been fixed.

There was/is a separate problem (relating to iTunes 12 IIRC) whereby the metadata might get totally screwed up. In other words, your listing details might show, for example, 'Dark Side of the Moon' under a different artist and further messed up by listing tracks from 'Let it bleed' by The Stones.

A new version of iTunes correcting those problems was released earlier today.

OK..can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem with Apple Music? Adding the Colin Davies set to my iTunes library, the tracks get listed in alphabetical order and not in proper track sequence. There is no track number that one normally gets when you import CDs and so you can't sort on that. So how do folks get over this?

And why are some tracks greyed out in some items of music?

Cant see how it could. It will need the user to restore from a backup.
