    I've just tried it.

    Truly awful.

So bad that I resent wasting my time with it. It really is that bad.

Leaving aside the appalling user interface for the iTunes Store "Based on your purchase of Schenberg's Gurrelieder, you might like to buy the Teddy Bears Picnic' I gave up trying to find anything that I could actually stream. What an utter waste of time. It wouldn't surprise me either if, like that equally abysmal offering from ClassicFM 'Compose', it didn't provide gapless playback.

    I despair.

Good heavens! Are we talking about the same thing here?

I've been using Apple Music for 6/7 days now and the user interface is really intuitive and a pleasure to use (I suppose that's ultimately down to personal experience).

I am currently listening to Turandot, Domingo, Hendricks, Karajan et al, Deutsche Gramophone (too lazy to take my copy off the shelf) and gapless playback is working perfectly. I don't know why you wouldn't have gapless playback too.

I haven't come across "based on your purchase........." options (or I've simply not noticed it) and I've found everything that I've looked for -Anthony Collins' Sibelius cycle, Karajan's Parsifal, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer thrash metal albums; Bob Marley Aswad, Steel Pulse - a real cross section of music.

I just did a test search for 'Solti Bartok' and a wide selection of recordings came up - quite impressive really.

Having used this service a few days now, streaming to my iPhone and thereto my car, my iPad and main living room system, I'm giving it a definite thumbs up and will most likely be paying my £9.99 when my free trial is up.

I think Apple have a winner here!

Edit: One downside is that it's making me lazy - I can't be bothered to lay my hands on my own recordings when I can just type into the Apple Music search box!

P.S. This Turandot performance is wonderful, I should play it more often. And what a great work it is, with fabulous tunes coming and going, flying in and out like no other work I know.

        Agreed.

Glass of water and a chair for Mr Anastasius!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Perhaps it's because I'm using iTunes 12 on a Mac?

Or maybe it's simply not intuitive enough for mere mortals like myself. Once upon a time Apple was synonymous with excellence in User Interfaces. iTunes 12 takes that concept and throws it out of the window.

OK - please tell me where I am going wrong. I clicked on those stupid little circles and just said that I 'loved' classical music. Nothing else. So reading around a bit, I have to go to iTunes Store, yes? In that case what is all this rubbish about ? Where is there any classical music?

OK..let's try the Search bar for a bit of Mahler. Oh look, other people also bought ...The Skaters Waltz ......who cares?

And where is the More Options button which I am told takes me to an option to add to Apple Music?

I won't be switching from Qobuz, but from what I've seen if Qobuz disappeared I'd subscribe to Apple Music (or Tidal). I've had none of the problems the earlier poster described.

And here's another cracker. I searched for Mahler and Davis

              I rest my case.

              I agree - Qobuz is a zillion x better

Kind of Blue IS a 'classic'

Kind of proves the 'point' about the nebulous nature of 'classical music'.

I think the earlier poster doesn't want it to work.

Is Apple Music for R3's Core Listeners?

Is the output of Johnny Rotten or Sullivan's Cox and Box classifiable as such?

Have you gone on there to listen to music, or play silly buggers?

Not a very constructive comment, is it? Less of the sarcasm might be helpful.

I don't know why your are complaining though?
As a passionate advocate of the free market why don't you just go and buy from another shop?

Try entering "Mahler Colin Davis" and you'll probably see what you want to see.

Many thanks, Steve, and at last a helpful reply. Interesting. Four hits. None available for streaming. Qobuz has at least one after a quick search.

                              I rest my case.
