I've heard it needs the latest OS, which I am guessing is not on your Gen I iPad.
Are you asking if you can download music, as you can with iTunes?

TS had quoted 15 pounds, which would double Spotify. 10 pounds would still be a 50% increase, although not very significant in absolute terms. Have you tried it, Beefy? Someone that I know who has said they liked the interface better than Spotify

My problem with that is I tend to not notice when the free trial period is up until my credit card has been charge a few times...

Probably right about the iOS version, which is pretty poor considering that Spotify works.

No, I'm not asking about downloads. I have occasionally used iTunes for dowmloads, but Apple must already have a rather large repository for their iTunes download service, though there's sometimes cunning pricing e.g. first movement of a symphony = Album only!

My guess is that rather than create a new database/repository they'll have simply enabled streaming for many of the already downloadable tracks, but I could be wrong. There's a "radio" channel feature too, I read.

            iCal is your friend

(and that's not just a mis-spelling of Cali - although of course it is equally correct that yours truly is your friend!)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I suppose that eventually the iTunes store will be merged with the streaming service

iTunes latest version seems to include the streaming service.

Qobuz works fine for me. 5 euros a month and all the jazz, classical, pop, blues I need. 320kbps is fine for what I listen on

Far too many titles are only available as 30 second samples for streaming.
That's almost certainly down to the labels not allowing streaming.

I've had a quick look at Apple Music, and it too has big gaps in what's available to stream. No Hyperion, and only a handful of ECM albums. I wont be abandoning by Qobuz Sublime account.

In which case you should switch off the auto-renewal option...

Apple Music made its worldwide debut in over 100 countries on June 30, with a free three-month trial available for customers to try the streaming...

It offers the majority of the iTunes catalogue plus some genre based 'radio' stations. To listen to the iTunes catalogue you need a subscription, the radio is free.

Yes it does. Found updates awaiting to be installed this evening, so did so and a new iTunes offers the option.

I've signed up for my free 3 months with a big reminder on my electronic calendar mid September to decide whether I want to proceed to pay from 1 October.

First impression - bloody annoying: you spend a while selecting preferred styles of music ... which seemed to make no difference at all, iTunes presented me with a load of "R&B Slow Jams of the '00s" and Britney Spears albums...

Then the help page http://www.apple.com/uk/support/music/ totally failed to tell me what I wanted to know - how to gain access to the Apple Music library. Maybe it's buried in there somewhere, but 20 mins of increasingly searching failed to find it.

They need to state the BASIC POINT that when you enter a search term in the search box in iTunes, you are presented with the hitherto unknown option: to search 'My Music' or 'APPLE MUSIC' ... Duhhhh..... So THAT'S how you get into Apple Music. I had to find out for myself.

And now - well, it's great. I've sampled the entire Stile Antico catalogue, and am now listening happily to Vilde Frang playing the Nielsen Violin Concerto, to calm down.

Why do they make the first encounter with products like this so DAMNED ANNOYING??!?!

                        I'm with you, Carl !!

Steve Jobs, we hardly knew ye....the beauty of Apple used to be that their products worked so intuitively from the start...

On Google Play Music All Access, Naxos Music Library and Spotify there is very little, if any, Hyperion. Like you, I assume they withhold their recordings. But the range, otherwise, of the Google and Naxos services I find impressive. I'm not sure from the info so far, whether Hyperion appears on the Qobuz streaming services. (Also, Testament are not present-perhaps not surprisingly. But Bluebell - Swedish, Jussi Bjorling series, can be found on Naxos M L ). Naxos ML has a list of labels on their service on the ring menu of the home page and its a long list.

But can more than one device be running Spotify at anyone time? I thought Spotify were about to introduce a subscription that would allow that. The Apple Music family subscription allows up to 6 people to be streaming concurrently for £15 a month.
