    And Masleev lost his mother just before/as the competition started. Does not have any bearing on his competence but cannot imagine what that must be like.

      The big bar to me wholheartedly enjoying this competition. (Rather too much Lizst in the concert programmes for my liking, too!). Some astonishing pianism on offer though, and a handful of names to watch keenly...

        Very interesting article about Lucas Debargue which fills in much needed information. One keeps fingers crossed that things will not go pear shaped.

          I think this is a silly rule. I know it's the name of the competition, but it's a bit restrictive as Tchaikovsky only composed two and a bit piano concerti, so there isn't much leeway. Not many opt for no. 2.
