      What E connects -

      a) a French work underpinned by Berlioz and Mendelssohn
      b) a French work containing a polka
      c) a polka written in the US almost contemporaneous with (b)

          Elephant

          A) In Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals, the Elephant contains quotes from the dance of the sylphs from Berlioz's Damnation of Faust, and the scherzo from Mendelssohn's incidental music to A Midsummer Night's Dream.

          B) Poulenc's L'Histoire de Babar, le petit elephant contains a polka.

          C) Stravinsky composed Circus Polka for a Young Elephant.
