So the A is connected in some way to their date order? As might be first, second and third to do/achieve something?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The order of the names is the order in which each composed this 'A'.

Rats I had a partial sequence of WH Auden conenctions with Bernstein (symph 2) & Walton (The Twelve), but Chas was out on his ear.

                  Is the link America?

Charles Ives (Variations on 'America'), Leonard Bernstein (America, West Side Story) and William Schuman (orchestrated the Ives).

Yes - three 'Americas', composed in 1891, 1957 and 1962 - by an American composer in each case, of course!

What will B next, I wonder?

Is the link The Beatles? More specifically, musicians who performed with them?

Reginald Kilbey (cello), Eric Clapton (guitar)

I can't find a Bela. Did Bela Dekany perform as a violinist?

Bela Bartok wrote a "Bear Dance" (more than one I think) and Eric Coates wrote a dance suite "The Three Bears", but I'm struggling with Reg, although I found an obscure jazz musician called Reggie "Teddy Bear" Dubois.

Wrong in all 3 - there are pop and classical references.

Thought I was on to something there!
