No. What vibes do you get in Mahler 8, I wonder. Goosebumps?
    That's not a hint, btw.

I'm intrigued by a Stravinsky work that might have fitted the bill: a word repeated in the title? A mistranslation of Les Noces as a double Vedding?

My V is a singular four-letter word, though not a rude one. Cloughie and others might be equally familiar with its six-letter plural form; indeed they might adore it.

Not quite the right combination of cabbage to mayonnaise, but I see that the organ sonata does at least have three movements.

                So yes, with reservations.

MacMillan: Veni, Veni, Emmanuel; a concerto for percussion and orchestra in one continuous movement.
Mahler: Symphony 8 (a massive work), Part 1 (of 2) being the hymn Veni creator spiritus, in which the chorus repeats the opening word right at the start.

The third (organ) piece I was thinking of is not a sonata, but a three-movement work involving a set of variations (hence a varied work) on Veni creator spiritus as its final movement.

The singular/plural hint was to Veni and then Venite (both as the canticle and in the expression Venite adoremus).

Yes: the work I had in mind is his Opus 4. Veni creator: Prélude, Adagio, et Choral varié

I hope it supplied some welcome distraction along the way.

Yes, thanks to everyone who contributed to the entertainment and enlightenment, cheerleaders, goalscorers and referees. Here's to renewed inspiration in 12 months time (if not before ...).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It’s been a busy month or two… But very entertaining, looking in (and pitching in occasionally). It’s been especially good seeing frenchie getting down and dirty with the Associators

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
