Combined and separately, what "X" connects Marta, Minna and Antonina?

Separately, they're all in love, and sign their letters with an X.
Unfortunately, though, they've all got bad breath, so they need to suck XXX strength mints.

Sorry Pulcinella, but maybe once in love?

        3 composers feature.

          Urgggggggh. This is beyond fiendish.
Would that be Antonina Miliukova? As in Glenda Jackson in The Music Lovers?

Could Minna be Webern's wife? Marta, Bartok's first wife?
            I'm struggling with female composers.

I'll have to sleep on this and hope for inspiration or a miracle.

I'm sure that you're on the right track here; not women composers but all former wives/partners (and hence Exes) of the composers we're supposedly looking for?

                Or ex-first loves?
To go with Tapiola's reply, "but maybe once in love?", to your beautiful solution, which did make me laugh.

Still struggling to see a connection...

Could Ken Russell have made composer films of their partners? Tchaikovsky, Bartok...

Minna Planer was Wagner's (irreconcilably separated) wife.

Pulcinella and AuntDaisy, you've got there and you've both uttered the solution! The X in my question was deliberately in inverted commas; the answer is Ex, as in ex-wife (more strictly, ex-1st wives). Now for the 3 composers. Tchaikovsky, yes. Bartok, yes. Minna...?

By 2 minutes, though I worked it out last night. I didn't get the Ex - I was wondering whether it was the 'X', universal mark of illiteracy, on the marriage cert. Though the wives in question were presumably not illiterate so that would have been hard to sell as a solution. (Sorry to have missed out on the prize for the shortest, silliest W )

Yes, thanks Tapiola for an excellent and succinct question. (Some setters suffer from verbal diaorrhea )

Who's up for Y or Z? Pulcinella, french frank, antongould, vinteuil... or a kind volunteer.

I'm not going to do Y, but here's the W: A composer, an instrumentalist, a work:

His Work - to get them dancing
                                He's finger-pickin' good
This fruit is 3 for 4
