    Question primarily to Anton.
I never understood the origin of 'coleslaw', which used to be the expression used to explain the answers.
    Perhaps he could enlighten us?

      Indeed!

Albert Roussel: The poem of the forest
      RVW: A Sea Symphony
      Bernstein: Jeremiah

All names given to the respective first symphonies, Symphony 1 (hence One).

I think Aunt Daisy and LMcD can share the palm and decide who goes next (and how: I suppose we migrate to having a P).

Hope Nick is satisfactorily unstumped and Anton keeps contributing.

I have a 'P' ready, if that's OK with everyone?

Well done LMcD I'd never have got that.

Thanks Pulcinella, that's brightened up a gloomy, rainy day (and been a welcome break from work).

OK, here we go (oh, and thanks for resurrecting the game!)
                A 'P' to link:
                - a composer born in 1678
                - a conductor born in 1924, and
                - an instrumentalist born in 1962

A droll reference to Anna's request that at the end of a solving session, someone (setter or solver) draw the elements together so we floundering souls can see the solution at a glance. Hence "Anna's Law" .... or AL... or coleslaw... or potato salad... or other droll elaborations!!

I'm struggling. Vivaldi & Marriner? Bit tenuous, but Red & Zadok?

Gosh I was racking my brains but couldn’t remember for the life of me the derivation, and was hoping Anton would come along and put me out of my misery…

… but there you are: thanks! Eleven years was enough to have wiped that particular memory disc

Generally unstumped (for now…). I always forget that A Sea Symphony was RVW’s No. 1

                        PS: I miss Anna….
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

That would make sense. (I was trying to find some heavy metal band member, Judas...)

                              Georg Ratzinger?
