That's two of the three. Can you make it up to £3? (I'm going to be out most of the afternoon and evening so unlikely to be able to adjudicate quickly. The third answer should be fairly obviously correct when you find it, so please move onto R without me.)

'Quid sum miser' from the Verdi Requiem.
(Perhaps somebody would like to join in the Festive Fun in due course and set an 'R').

I could take on the Role! A scrooge may come to mind, as it links the Colosseum, an aircraft death in the 60s and American Wind Bands.

You're still a quid short (two Dies Iraes or whatever the plural is, but no "concerto")... Feel free to guess in parallel, or I'll reveal the answer tomorrow.

            Is it typo for Quodlibet?

            Also thinking about Cloughie's R...

The link is Reeves: Rachel Reeves; Tony Reeves (member of Colosseum, rock band); Jim Reeves and David Wallace Reeves, American march composer.

Did anyone get the £3? Wasn't Quid sum miser offered twice? The other was Quid Pro Quo. Or have I been imbibing the Christmas spirit?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Shame really Pet as I am Sure that you could come up with Something more Subtle than this Simple Sample.

My mistake - I was responding to post 936.
Michael Flanders bet a quid in 'Ill Wind', his take on Mozart's Horn Concerto in E flat major.

I'm sure you're right, Cloughie, but I just haven't got the time normally never mind on Christmas Eve. I liked your latest in that it was fun to solve. Some are so obtuse as to be pretty well impossible without multiple hints. Hopefully, the mental gymnastics required somehow keeps the dementia at bay.

To be honest, in my case it's quite often relentless Googling backed up by the odd burst of inspiration.
Apologies again for the recent confusion which I inadvertently caused. Assuming that Michael Flanders was the man with the missing quid, the current 'S' is post 937.

brilliant LMcD - it must be MF.
