No and no. And no to Sainte-Beuve too. All of whom I'd heard of! This one is obscure but Wikipedia has heard of him.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

        St. Umped (again)…

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It might help to know that his name has a bit more on the menu before the saint's name.

              St. Arter (for 10)?

              (Apologies for copying Nick).

St. Ap me vitals! The menu is nominally a big clue. Nearly as big as a picture of him with his name engraved round the edge!

I might add it's a hard nut to crack.

                  Please can we
                  Stop a moment
                  Reverse
and can someone explain to my simple mind the elements and their respective associations in the
                  Quirky poser that AuntDaisy set.

I don't get the Janacek connection, for one thing (or is Glagolitic the Quire/Manuscript, rather than Choir simply because it's a choral work?).

The double protagonists were the two choirs/quires.

Apologies Pulcinella, I haven't done this for a very long time...
On the radio, how does part of a mediaeval manuscript, "Q", link to Janáček's mass.ive double protagonists & a.mass collect?
                      Janáček's mass = Glagolitic Mass
                      double protagonists = two choirs
I incuded "massive" because they were big.
The full stop in massive was my rough indicator that there were two ways of reading it. (Ditto amass = collect = acquire; and the collect as part of a mass).

That gives us A Quire, A Choir & Acquire.

Is that a reference to a coin or medal?

                            Nuts, whole hazelnuts?
Or, were they named differently on the Saints' menu?
Could Róbert Mandel (an alternative nut) be involved, a twiddling his accurséd hurdy-gurdy?

You've given me the confidence to go for the Buffet-Sainte-Marie, which will of course include a Waldorf Salad with extra walnuts.
